The Unloved is film that gives a child's eye view of the U.K.'s government-run care system for orphans and children in danger. Lucy is eleven years old. Having been neglected by her estranged mother and father, she is placed in a children's home. Through her eyes, we follow Lucy's struggle to cope with the system. Her saving is her self-belief and her certainty that she is being watched over and protected by the holy spirit. Hers is a heroic quest for love, beauty and transcendence.

Fewer and fewer movies are being shot on actual film, because fewer and fewer movies building have film projectors. Except if there is an art house cinema nearby, any watching of older, or less renowned, films, on actual film, is pretty much impossible. When exactly is the last time that an aged or obscure film was available at the local multi-theater megaplex? If whoever has a film copy of that older, imprecise film, does not think it is profitable enough to put it about DVD, there is little that can be done about it. Soon, the only way to view films of any kind, will be through on-line streaming. Depending on your point of view, this is both that natural progression of technology, or it's the end of the world.
